오늘날 한국 대중문화는 복합적인 문화 현상으로 우리 일상과 감각 속에 자리합니다. 특히 K-POP이 만들어내는 이미지, 이야기, 세계관은 예술 장르를 넘어 동시대 미디어 환경과 유기적으로 얽혀 변화하고 있습니다. 신문박물관 프레시움이 개최하는 여름특별전 《아이돌로그래피: 프레시움에서 읽는 K-POP with MyK FESTA》은 K-POP이라는 거대한 문화 텍스트를 다각도로 독해하는 시도입니다. 전시 제목인 ‘아이돌로그래피(Idolography)’는 팝 문화의 상징적 존재인 ‘아이돌(Idol)’과 특정 대상에 대한 기록 혹은 시각적 기술(記述)을 의미하는 접미사 ‘–그래피(–graphy)’의 합성어입니다. 이는 미술과 미디어 아카이브, 유물을 통해 대중문화의 지형을 새롭게 탐색하고 그 의미를 발견하려는 전시의 목표를 함축합니다.

Contemporary popular culture is a complex cultural phenomenon that permeates Korean’s daily lives and senses. In particular, the imagery, narratives, and worldview found in K-pop transcend genres as they engage dynamically and are transformed within the media environment. The summer special exhibition Idolography: Reading K-pop at the Presseum with MyK FESTA aims to interpret the vast cultural text of K-pop from multiple perspectives. The exhibition title, “Idolography,” is a compound of “idol”—here meaning an iconic figure from pop culture—and the suffix “-graphy.” It encapsulates the exhibition’s aim of reexploring the landscape of popular culture to reveal its deeper meanings through art, media archives, and cultural artifacts.
